Channel 4 logo
The essence of the ‘4’ was reworked. The new design allowed for a more flexible, more fluid branding. The contrast between the ‘filled’ and ‘unfilled’ spaces in the four gives it depth and greater narrative capacity.
For Channel 4's new high definition service, I sought to develop a crisp, clean logo which would suggest the qualities of high definition television.
Channel 4 was proud of being the first terrestrial channel to launch a +1 service, and the design challenge was to create a look which was different and striking, and yet similar to the main channel. This was achieved by removing sections of the 4 logo to reveal a number 1.
The channel provided five different names for the new service. A series of designs were produced for each name. This helped the client to choose the best one. This process clarified the values and the look of the new brand.
4 Radio logo
The challenge was to create a brand that both identifies Channel 4's new radio station with its owner - and makes it different. The logo reflects the new station's identity as a destination for young, engaged, music-loving, audiences.
